The Turn of the Key, by Ruth Ware

I wasn’t sure of this from what I heard, but I quickly started to get very excited about the concept. At least, that is the feeling like I got from the preview. The smart house, the note from the previous nanny, they all add up to a thrilling ride.

The other people writing reviews for this book have very diverse opinions. For me there was a difference in the author’s voice. This one came across to me very differently. Not all the words, more about the characters in the stories. She is, at times, the most talented writer I’ve ever read.

You will get a sense of what the author intends, but if that’s not your style you have a right to complain loudly about that, and I hope you keep your displeasure to yourself. That being said, if you come away from the whole of this book feeling confused, disappointed, and maybe even a little upset at being so wrong about things, that’s part of the fun.

I liked reading this book, but I felt that I took away from something that is more important. It was very well-written and it’s quite funny at the same time. I was very impressed, but I was never sure enough if this was going to end in a good or bad way for the author, and the ending was very slow. I don’t know if I’m going to re-read it ever.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to read this book or not. I mean the other way round, it did take me out of the moment, but then once I got through that, my enthusiasm increased again. And I loved it. It felt like a great little adventure.
